== Brief overview - What is 4-AcO-MET? ==


4-acetoxy-N-methyl-N-ethyltryptamine, aka Metacetin; is a synthetic psychedelic tryptamine.

Metacetin seems to be a fairly safe psychedelic comparable to other tryptamines of its class, but considering that it seems to have a much shorter history of human use it is best to always stay cautious. No deaths have been reported from ingestion of metacetin. There are anecdotal reports of body tremors and elevated heart rate.

It is believed that 4-AcO-MET will metabolize into 4-HO-MET once it enters the body, but no studies have been done to test this theory. Based on anecdotal reports, it seems possible that some 4-AcO-MET remains and has its own biological activities.
