Few questions

WATER

- Deionized / demineralized / distilled / spring / tap water -> what is the difference and how much this really matters in the end?

- Is it ok to use deionized + demineralized T-water that is sold at gasolin stations? It is not recommended for drinking but perhaps this is just because deionized distilled water in general is not very healthy. Or is it because the T-water for cars may contains some poisonous remnants? Hard to believe the latter if it is deionized and demineralized.

STEP 3 Acidification

- Is it a problem if acid path is 'hot' (rather than 'warm') because I see warm is recommended. I am thinking of putting the the plant material soaking with 'almost boiled' acidic water in a thermos bottle, instead of heat path. So is it then a problem if the temperature decreases slower (as in thermos) compared to heat path (which as an open system cools down faster). What would be the optimal temperature (or temperature range?) anyway?

- Is it ok to leave plant material to soak in acid path for longer time (several days) while waiting for good time to do the rest. In the instructions minimum one hour is recommended but I guess this could be arbitrarily long?

- I guess white vinegar can be replaced by pure acetic acid; just making sure the final acetic acid concentration is the same (and assuming standard white vinegar has 5% acetic acid concentration). Or is there something specific so that white distilled vinegar would be preferred over pure acetic acid?

STEP 4 Salting

- How does salt concentration affect the extraction process (9g/l pure NaCal solution sometimes readily available from pharmacies but 30-40g/l is recommended). Any salt concentration - extraction yield curves available?

- Would it be ok to add salt already in the acid path or in the base solution, instead of a separate step ? This could save some effort if salting could be just combined with A or B step

- It is recommended not to use Iodized salt and I remember seeing a note somewhere this is potentially even lethal. What is the exact problem with Iodized salt?

- STEP 6, part 6, you say REPEAT THIS four times (shake/separate) to thoroughly mix them together. This should take around 45 mins. Do you mean every single part (1-6) in step 6 or, just part 6 in STEP 6.
