General Plant Info

Geographic distribution

Widespread in coastal regions of eastern and southern Australia; naturalised in South Africa, eastern USA, southern Europe.

Identification

Differs from Acacia longifolia [1] in having wider, rounder phyllodes, more twisted pods, and a more prostrate habit. Common on coastal dunes.

Alkaloid content

Reported DMT, Bufotenine, Tryptamine, Cinnamoylhistamine, n-dec-3-enolylhistamine [D. Siebert; Entheogen Review].

Extraction

Other uses

Seeds eaten by indigenous Australians.
