Anhydrous Magnesium Sulfate

Anhydrous magnesium sulfate (MgSO4) is a hygroscopic drying agent often used in freebasing[1].

It can be retrieved from Epsom Salt[2] (MgSO4 · 7H2O), which is commonly used in salt baths.

MgSO4 · 7H2O → MgSO4 · 1H2O at 150°C

MgSO4 · 1H2O → MgSO4 at 200°C[3]

The anhydrous form is soluble in water, slightly soluble in alcohol, and insoluble in acetone at 20°C[4].
