DMT cart

I recently obtained a cart full of dmt. The dmt is quite thick and will not sink down to the absorption holes. I am not sure what to do about this. I am not sure if it is ok to possibly pop the mouthpiece cap off and pack it down, or if I shoukd use a lighter to lightly melt it down. Any recommendations?
