There will still be plenty of DMT in the shot glass that shouldn't be wasted. I was told I could recover this by using IPA / acetone but I decided to experiment a bit. Take a tiny bit of herb and make sure it's finely crumbled. Add a tiny amount of boiling water to the cup and place the shot glass in it without putting plastic over it. ''Be careful that the water doesn't run into your shot glass.'' Scrape the herb material across the glass with your mixing rod to let it soak up the DMT. When you think you have most of the DMT, remove the glass from the hot water and immediately remove the herbs from the glass. This simple trick will help get most of the DMT from the glass and into your changa.

Why a warm water bath?

Making Changa usually involves the use of solvents such as isopropyl alcohol or acetone. Making Changa without solvents has several advantages over traditional TEKs that use solvents:

  • Your leaf material won't be at risk of having residue solvent left in it
  • From freebase DMT to Changa in less than 15 minutes
  • Cheaper because no solvent is needed
  • Works with and without harmalas

The pictures for this TEK were made without harmalas but the guide will explain the harmala steps as well. The pictures were taken while I was making Changa with 500 mg of DMT and 500 mg of dried tarragon that was finely crumbled.

The recipe

Materials Required Checklist.png
Source Material:
  • DMT
  • Harmalas (optional)
  • Your preferred mixture of herbs
Equipment:
  • coffee filter/filtration system
  • Shot glass
  • Plastic wrapping
  • Small cup
  • Boiling water
  • Mixing rod

Here are the step by step instructions.

Step 1

Place the herbs in the hot glass and place the DMT on top of the herbs. Don't mix yet, the DMT needs to stay on top of the herbs for optimal absorption when it melts and runs down the herbs. If you wish to add freebase harmalas to the mixture, make sure the harmalas are place on top of the herbs but below the DMT.

Step 2

Cover the shot glass with some plastic wrapper to ensure the mixture stays dry in case of splashing water. I accidentally knocked my shot glass over when I placed it in the cup of water so I was glad I had it wrapped in plastic.

Step 3

Heat up some water to 100 degrees Celcius and place the shot glass into the cup and gently pour hot water into the cup. Make sure you don't pour directly onto the plastic. Let this sit for 5 minutes and then check if all the DMT has melted. If not, replace the warm water with fresh boiling water and let sit for another few minutes. Two or three baths are usually enough to melt all the DMT.

Step 4

Take the shot glass out of the cup, remove the plastic wrapper and stir thoroughly with your mixing rod to ensure all the leaf material has the chance to soak up DMT. Make sure you mix it well and then some more.

When using a solvent to lace the DMT onto the leaf material the DMT is evenly distributed throughout the leaf material because the DMT is evenly distributed in the solvent. The DMT that is molten from the heat does not have this luxury, so the more thorough the molten DMT/leaf mixture is mixed the more even the distribution. A distribution as equal as with using a solvent is highly unlikely to be achieved with this TEK.

Let the mixture cool down and the DMT will start to crystallize. Let sit for 5 to 10 minutes and then remove from the shot glass. And done.

Step 5

There will still be plenty of DMT in the shot glass that shouldn't be wasted. I was told I could recover this by using IPA / acetone but I decided to experiment a bit. Take a tiny bit of herb and make sure it's finely crumbled. Add a tiny amount of boiling water to the cup(not the shot glass) and place the shot glass in it without putting plastic over it. Be careful that the water doesn't run into your shot glass. Scrape the herb material across the glass with your mixing rod to let it soak up the DMT. When you think you have most of the DMT, remove the glass from the hot water and immediately remove the herbs from the glass. This simple trick will help get most of the DMT from the glass and into your changa.

Step 6

Any remaining DMT can be recovered using IPA / acetone and evaporated. Voila, you made changa in under 15 minutes and without the use of solvents. Can't wait to try it out!
