Nevertheless the principles can work for the conversion of other kind of alkaloids, though this must be tested specifically for each case, as other alkaloids may have properties that prevent this conversion from working well. For example if an alkaloid's freebase form is too water soluble, like bufotenine, its very possible it wont crystallize out of water like conversion type 1 and 2 below.
